Across the Hudson Valley, hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses are without power after Tropical Storm Isaias. Roads are blocked across the region.

Central Hudson, which had more than 90,000 customers without power Tuesday afternoon in Dutchess, Ulster and Orange counties, was working to repair the damage. It had more than 360 line workers and tree personnel available to address power outages.

Unfortunately, around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, the utility company's website, mobile app and online outage reporting and restoration service became unavailable due to a widespread internet outage caused by damage to its provider's equipment.

Also, the weather service warned of strong winds moving into Dutchess and Ulster counties Monday afternoon.

The threat describes sustained winds of 40-50 mph, with 65 mph gusts through 3 p.m., the weather service said.

"For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building," the NWS statement said. "If in a place that is near large trees, in a mobile home, upper floors of a high rise building, or on a boat, consider moving to a safer shelter before the onset of strong wind."

For Dutchess and Ulster, "Winds will rapidly increase as Tropical Storm Isaias approaches. East to southeast winds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts of 55 mph will occur. These winds could bring down some trees and tree limbs. Use caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects."
