Air Quality Alerts, Chocolate Holidays and an Outdoor Shrek Movie Screening
The weekend's not here quite yet, but 5 Things has arrived to make sure you

1. Pay Heed to Air Quality Alert
Because pollution levels are elevated today, the National Weather Service has implemented an air quality alert in Westchester today from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. To protect your airwaves, consider limiting your strenuous outdoor activity. Young people and those suffering from respiratory problems (asthma, heart disease) may be particularly sensitive to the reduced air quality. Have questions? Consult your physician.
2. Eat Your Way Through National Chocolate Day

Today might just be the best holiday ever. Now, go on, grab your favorite bar, bagged treat or baked oozing goodie and know that we’re celebrating right along with you and your sticky keyboard. Have a favorite spot to pick up some sweet chocolately goodness? Do share. We’re looking to diversify here.
3. Watch Shrek Under the Stars

Sure, you’d like to kick back and watch a movie tonight, but how could you possibly waste this balmy evening? You can’t. Which is why we’re sending you off to “Shrek Forever After: Screenings Under the Stars.” Pack up a blanket and some popcorn and head over to in White Plains at 6 p.m. to watch the final installment of the Shrek series, while sprawled out on the grass.
4. Hear Some Free Music
If you’d rather move to a beat, than just sit back and watch a flick, go see the 75-member play its second free summer tonight. Conductor Alan Hollander has put together a variety of tunes, including the 1812 Overture, big band favorites, Dixieland melodies, marches and the popular. The crew will also break out the popular "mystery tune,” AKA “name that tune.” The crew starts jamming at 8 p.m. at Chase Park in Scarsdale.
5. See Nature Through A Telephoto Lens
Georgia O’Keefe viewed nature with her own perspective, and so do the 27 participating members of the Color Camera Club of Westchester. Check out their work at ArtsWestchester’s “” exhibit from 12-5 p.m. today. Enjoy photography ranging from natural landscape scenes to flower portraits. For more information, visit Arts Westchester's website or call (914) 428-4220. Admission is free.
