Brazilian Carnival at Pelham Art Center

Don't miss the free mask-making workshop and carnival dance performance.

From PAC: The Pelham Art Center is pleased to host Brazilian Carnival! We will be dancing in the streets with this performance by Samba Novo. Located in Brooklyn, NY, Samba Novo has been providing Brazilian and Caribbean music and dance entertainment for over 30years, providing entertainment worldwide. Colorful costumes and exuberant dancing to samba music is the staple of the Carnival festival. Drumming adds to the festivities in a style called Batucada. This is a substyle of samba and refers to an African-influenced Brazilian percussive style.

A workshop on mask making will follow the dance. Artist teacher Luiza Cardenuto will lead the workshop. She exhibits her work under the name Nūtō, is a visual artist working in printmaking, sculpture and interactive installations.

This event is free and open to the public. Brazilian Carnival Dance Performance and
