Food Bank For Westchester Receives Community Award

From the Food Bank for Westchester: Food Bank for Westchester, the leading organization that provides programs for the 200,000 county residents who are hungry or food insecure, was recently honored with a Community Award from The Yonkers Commission on Human Rights. Ellen Lynch, President & CEO of Food Bank for Westchester, accepted the award on behalf of the organization during a breakfast at Castle Royale in Yonkers on December 10. The event celebrated International Human Right’s Day with the theme, “Proper Nutrition is a Human Right.”.

Food Bank for Westchester was recognized for the work it does with Yonkers residents in need of better nutrition. The Food Bank helps them procure food and ensures that the food is healthy. Other honorees included Shoprite of Tuckahoe Road, Nathan Hunter, Groundwork Hudson Valley and Yonkers Public School students. The Yonkers Commission on Human Rights (YHRC) actively promotes human rights awareness and outreach in the community through special events and activities.
