Funds Awarded to Yonkers in Restore New York Initiative
Nearly $40 million was awarded to 75 municipalities across the state.
YONKERS, NY — Several mid-Hudson region communities were awarded funds to support municipal revitalization efforts.
Across the state nearly $40 million was awarded to 75 municipalities, including Yonkers.
“These projects will help bring new vitality and opportunities for growth to communities across New York by transforming blighted properties and making key infrastructure investments,” Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Thursday.

“With this funding, we are helping to build stronger regional economies and are laying the foundation for a more prosperous New York for all.”
Two projects the governor singled out were $2 million for the City of Yonkers for the redevelopent of three vacant buildings in the Wheeler Block of downtown Yonkers, including a storefront facade and $500,000 for the City of Kingston for the demolition of a commercial building and the rehabilitation of three residential properties that will also allow for the creation of the new, sustainable Energy Square and affordable housing in a new zero-net energy structure.
