We wholeheartedly hope for your wellbeing as we all continue to physically distance. During this time apart, we are opened to new possibilities for seeing, studying and experiencing art with one another. This month Pelham Art Center is pleased to offer virtual studio visits that you can join via Zoom.

Starting this week, three artists will give an intimate look at their artistic careers and insight into their creative processes. Each virtual visit is $10 to join. Your donation directly supports the artists and the Pelham Art Center.

“Nature has always been very influential in my work and acts as a hidden agenda and representative aspect in my otherwise abstract work. The preservation of our environment and appreciation for nature reveals itself through my choice of materials and form. Be that from recycled found or collected objects to vaguely aerial landscapes or organic shapes that can resemble bugs or floral pods. Each work asks the viewer to stretch their imagination and invites their curiosity in a struggle to identify their marks, engaging in the creative process through the act of exploration of the Art.”

FRIDAY, APRIL 10th. 1:00-2:00pm

Anki King (Artist & Curator)

“I paint and sculpt life sized figures that act as symbols for feelings that can’t accurately be described in words. They are characterized by the object symbols with which they share space. Each figure, or fragment of a figure, stands still in readiness for a charged meeting with the viewer. The viewing activates a series of responses, where identity is projected onto the faceless figure, similar to a reflection that offers the gazer another view of him/herself. This frees the narrative from being contained within the subject matter of the artwork and allows it to exist in the viewing space.”
