Pelham Rowing Association Hires Olympic Medalist to Head Youth Program

Henrik Rummel spent seven years on the US Rowing Team. He also has a degree in applied math from Harvard.

PELHAM, NY – The Pelham Community Rowing Association has appointed Henrik Rummel as Director of Youth Programs and Development.

Rummel joins PCRA after seven years on the US Rowing Team, where he represented the United States in the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, winning bronze in the coxless Four in the 2012 London Olympics. He was the Team USA Rowing Athlete of the Year in 2013. He also won 10 medals in international competitions including gold medals at the Junior, U-23 and Elite levels.

While on the US Team, Rummel spent considerable time working to help develop young rowers. Prior to the US team, Rummel rowed and trained under the legendary Harry Parker at Harvard University, where he obtained a degree in Applied Mathematics.

Rummel's training and race experience are at the highest levels, his standing in the rowing community at large, and his demonstrated commitment to youth development, make him a wonderful choice to lead our youth program, officials said.

At PCRA, Rummel will work with the PCRA coaching staff to build a stronger, more competitive youth program. In addition to coaching, he will implement new and comprehensive training programs to benefit both the Youth and Masters teams.

Rummel has also been charged with establishing an elite level competitive program. A move that underscores PCRA’s commitment to providing a top quality program to all athletes, whether a beginner or elite athlete.
