'Search for Change' Celebrates 40th Anniversary at Annual Gala
Pelham is encouraged to attend the fundraiser gala on May 20. Bernadette Kingham-Bez will be honored during the event.

Search for Change will be hosting their annual fundraiser on Friday, May 20, 2016 at the Mamaroneck Beach and Yacht Club. This year’s event, Journeys, will commemorate their 40th Anniversary and honor longtime supporter and advocate, Bernadette Kingham-Bez, Executive Director of St. Vincent’s Hospital Westchester and a Senior Vice President of Saint Joseph’s Medical Center.
Search for Change and St. Vincent’s Hospital have enjoyed a longstanding partnership in the provision of treatment and rehabilitative services to some of Westchester’s most vulnerable citizens. Under the leadership of Bernadette Kingham-Bez, St. Vincent’s Hospital has offered an increasingly diverse array of services to individuals with serious behavioral health conditions.

Over 200 are expected to attend the gala event, which will feature a silent auction, dinner, and dancing. Guests will learn more about Search for Change’s programs and services, especially their impact in the community over the last 40 years.
Since its inception in 1976, Search for Change has evolved to deliver a full continuum of residential and vocational rehabilitation services. It has expanded its supported housing programs in recent years, and it now offers short-term respite and mobile outreach services to specialized populations. The publicly funded behavioral healthcare system is presently undergoing a transformation that will surely present challenges and opportunities for recipients, providers and other key stakeholders. Nevertheless, Search for Change is poised to address these challenges in continuing pursuit of its mission.

In honor of this milestone anniversary, Search for Change has created a 40th Anniversary Circle which will include all supporters who made a donation of $40 or more. Donors will be acknowledged on a permanent plaque to be installed in the lobby of the Search for Change offices.
The mission of Search for Change is to improve the quality of life and increase the self-sufficiency of individuals with mental illness. They offer Community Residential, Apartment Treatment and Supported Housing programs that provide essential housing and rehabilitative services that enable hundreds of individuals to achieve lasting independence. Their Vocational Rehabilitation programs aid those living with mental illness to acquire and maintain competitive positions of employment in their communities of choice.
