Sentencing in Shooting During Girlfriend Fight
When the shots were fired, the street and nearby playground were full of adults and young children, the DA said.

Frank Kwaw of 73-83 Highland Ave., Yonkers, New York was sentenced to 18 years in state prison after having been found guilty by a jury in the wounding of Jessica Scott.
- one count of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, a class “B” Violent Felony,
- one count of Attempted Assault in the First Degree, a class “C” Violent Felony,
- one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a class “C” Violent Felony,
- one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, a class “D” Felony
At 7:58 p.m. May 27, Kwaw was on the sidewalk in front of 73-83 Highland Avenue in Yonkers when a fight broke out between his girlfriend and a friend of Scott's, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced.
While the two women fought, the 25-year-old pulled out a handgun and fired at least six shots at another friend of Scott's, Daquan Johnson. One of those rounds struck Scott in her left hand causing a fracture. After medical treatment, Scott still suffers loss of function in that hand.

A subsequent investigation by Yonkers Police resulted in Kwaw's arrest. Shell casings were found at the scene but the gun was never recovered. Surveillance video that was recovered and placed into evidence at trial clearly showed that, at the time those shots were fired, the street and nearby playground were full of adults and young children anyone of whom could have been seriously injured or killed.
Kwaw was remanded into the custody of the New York State Department of Corrections.
