Westchester DA: Former Teacher Had Sex with Student

A former religious studies teacher at Archbishop Stepinac High School was charged with two counts of rape for allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old student.

A 27-year-old woman who taught in the religious department of Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains earlier this year was arrested Wednesday and charged with raping a 14-year-old male student at the school.

Iles, who no longer works at the school and has been living in California, surrendered to Eastchester police Wednesday morning.

The encounters were allegedly uncovered by the victim’s parents, who then contacted Yonkers police. Upon further investigation, police discovered that the incidents allegedly took place at a location in Eastchester.

“As a teacher, this defendant was in a position of trust and authority,” Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore said in a statement. “In becoming involved with a student incapable of consent, she abused that privilege. Multi-jurisdictional detective work by police quickly led to the identification and arrest of the defendant.”

Iles was arraigned with a bail set at $25,000 cash or $75,000 bond. She is scheduled to reappear in court on Dec. 4.
