Cops: Man Stole Truck, Beat 74-Year-Old in Hicksville
The man stole an idling truck from in front of a dealership and pit stopped to beat a man as he fled, police said.

A Levittown man faces charges after he stole a car and assaulted a 74-year-old man on a Hicksville street Tuesday morning, according to Nassau County Police.
At 9:55 a.m., Patrick Hayden, 23, was driving south on N. Broadway when he stopped in front of the Robert Chevrolet Dealership, cops said. After parking his car, he got into an idling 2013 Dodge pickup truck and drove away, police said.
Hayden kept driving south in the stolen truck before finally stopping in front of 350 S. Broadway, cops said. There, he got out of the truck and began punching and kicking a 74-year-old man, police said. The victim was reportedly hospitalized with contusions and lacerations.

Hayden stopped at Ultimate Gym, located at 67 Bloomingdale Rd., and turned in a wallet that belonged to the truck’s owner, cops said. After the gym contacted the owner, police searched the area and found Hayden walking on Jerusalem Avenue near Constellation Road, cops said.
Hayden was hospitalized at the time of his arrest, when he was charged with second-degree assault, second-degree grand larceny, and fourth-degree grand larceny. He will be arraigned as soon as medically possible.
