Driver Rescued After Crashing Into Utility Pole In Nassau: PHOTOS

BREAKING: A major roadway was closed in both directions while crews worked the crash.

OLD BETHPAGE, NY — A car smashed into a utility pole Tuesday afternoon in Old Bethpage, closing local roadways.

Around 1 p.m. Tuesday, the Plainview Volunteer Fire Department and Nassau County police arrived at Round Swamp Road near Point of Woods Road for a report that a car crashed and burst into flames, officials said. Arriving units found the driver unconscious. The car was not on fire.

Firefighters pulled the driver from the car and took her to Nassau University Medical Center, officials said. They applied a speedy dry solution to fluid that spilled onto the roadway and secured the car.

Round Swamp Road was closed in both directions until utility workers repaired the damaged pole.
