Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued For Long Island

The latest from the National Weather Service on a storm system approaching the region.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Long Island as heavy rain on Friday may lead to flooding across the region.

More than 2 inches of rain is expected to fall on parts of the island and wind gusts will flirt with 40 mph. It will be way too warm for any wintry precipitation with temperatures near 60 degrees on the island Friday.

The rain will begin falling Thursday night and continue through the day Friday. There's a slight chance of thunderstorms Friday morning through the afternoon.
