How Warm Will Friday Get On Long Island?

Long Island is finally getting the spring weather we’ve been waiting for.

Friday is expected to hit a high of 77 degrees, according to The Weather Channel, or a high of 72 degrees if you prefer the National Weather Service.

Before Friday's heat, however, there’s a 20 percent chance of rain before 10 a.m. The NWS says it will then gradually become hotter and sunnier throughout the day.

Saturday will bring mostly sunny skies and a high temperature of 61 degrees.

Sadly, you can't have some sun without the rain. Saturday night has a 40 percent chance of precipitation and it’s probably going to rain all day on Sunday with a high temperature of 46 degrees.

Here’s the upcoming forecast, courtesy of the NWS:

• Thursday night: Mostly cloudy, with a steady temperature around 52. Windy, with a southwest wind 20 to 26 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph.
• Friday: A 20 percent chance of showers before 10am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 72. Southwest wind 10 to 16 mph.
• Friday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 51. Southwest wind 15 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.
• Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 61. Southwest wind around 14 mph.
• Saturday night: A 40 percent chance of light rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 42. Southwest wind 9 to 13 mph becoming east after midnight.
• Sunday: A chance of light rain before 2pm, then rain likely after 2pm. Cloudy, with a high near 46. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
• Sunday night: Rain. Low around 44. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent
