LI Trader Joe's Reopens After Worker Treated For Coronavirus

PLAINVIEW, NY—After a thorough cleaning and sanitization of its Plainview store, Trader Joe's reopened Thursday for business.

Officials for Trader Joe's said the store temporarily closed Monday after learning a crew member recently began receiving medical attention for a suspected case of the coronavirus.

While it's not clear if the employee has, in fact, tested positive for the virus, store reps said this worker was last present in the store on Saturday. The store shut down two days later.

During the closure, employees at the Plainview store, which is located at 425 S Oyster Bay Rd., continued to be paid for their scheduled shifts, company officials said.

Although its Long Island location is back up and running, three stores in New York City remain closed after employees at each location tested positive for COVID-19, company officials confirmed.

"We are working closely with local health officials to take all necessary measures and provide our communities with the most appropriate information needed to make an informed decision regarding their health and safety," Trader Joe's said in a statement. "We encourage customers who have health-related concerns to review CDC and local health department guidelines and to contact their healthcare providers with any questions."
