All 74 employees will be laid off when the Plainview branch of Coram, a CVS specialty infusion service, closes in October.

PLAINVIEW, NY — CVS Health plans to close its Coram infusion services branch in Plainview this fall, resulting in dozens of layoffs, a CVS Health representative confirmed.
All 74 employees of the branch will be laid off effective Oct. 23 amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, according to the company's Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification, which was filed July 21 in accordance with New York State's WARN Act.
The affected workers have been notified of the branch's imminent closure, according to the representative.

"These difficult decisions were made following a thorough analysis of resources as we look to best meet the needs of our patients," the representative wrote in a statement to Patch. The affected employees will be eligible to receive severance benefits, including outplacement services. They may also apply for open CVS Health positions in the area. Employees who regularly work in the field will not be affected by the branch closure.
The branch's services, which include in-home infusion and tube feeding therapy, will be relocated to other Coram locations in the state, according to the representative. The company's WARN notice lists "opening up facilities in Maspeth and Albany, NY" as the reason for the branch's closure.
