Submitted by Plainview-Old Bethpage School District
Seven student-run a capella groups from the Plainview-Old Bethpage School District’s John F. Kennedy High School dressed in costume and performed their own arrangements of various songs for the Plainview community. The seven groups, The Rolling Tones; Noteworthy; The B-Sharps; A Cafellas; Drastic Measures; Chock Full of Notes and On a High Note, performed Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” Elton John’s “Tiny Dancer” and Coldplay’s “Fix You” among others. Each group is student run, and all a capella arrangements are created by students involved. Over 100 students are involved in an a capella group and each performed with JFK alum during the evening show.
The school’s a capella groups have been featured on “The Today Show,” professional sporting events, and at various college a capella competitions.
