Plainview Pharmaceutical Take Back Day Returns Next Week
The Plainview Water District will hold its third annual Pharmaceutical Take Back Day next week for residents to easily and safely dispose of
PLAINVIEW, NY – The Plainview Water District will hold its third annual Pharmaceutical Take Back Day next week for residents to easily and safely dispose of their unwanted or expired medications.
The event will be held on Oct. 24 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the District's headquarters, located at 10 Manetto Hill Road.
"We are proud to once again be holding this important event and provide our resident with a safe, simple, and convenient way to discard any expired or unused medications they have lying around their home," Chairman Marc Laykind said in a prepared statement.

Residents can stay in their vehicles to dispose of their medications. When they arrive at the headquarters, they will be asked to approach the tent and discard of their medications in a marked container. Medications that have been collected will be taken by the Nassau County Police to a processing facility, where they will be discarded in an environmentally-friendly way.
The event will be held rain or shine.

"All of us have a responsibility to keep our water source clean for our families, friends and neighbors," Commissioner Amanda Field said in a prepared statement. "This event is too important to cancel, so we hope everyone with a bag full of old prescriptions waiting to be thrown out comes by so they can be discarded responsibly."
