Plainview Residents Sound Off on Snow Plowing

Winter Storm Jonas brought over a foot on snow to most of Long Island with a half dozen towns gaining totals of over 2 feet.

The blizzard led to travel bans on both the Long Island Expressway and the Northern State Parkway, while LIRR service was suspended until Monday morning.

While the bans are currently lifted, the LIRR is still facing sizable delays and numerous Long Island school districts announced closures as the island works to dig itself out of this weekend’s blizzard.

We asked Patch readers how they felt about the plowing done on their block. Here’s what you said:

• “The big plow finally came down and I have to say, he did a fine job! Got as close to the curb as he could.”

• “They did a wonderful job, one large truck, and one smaller pickup.“

• “What plowing? We are still waiting at 11 a.m. on Sunday.”

• “I just wish there was a way to avoid the snow being plowed back into the driveways. We all had 4 foot piles that our snow blowers could barely handle. Would snow removal ever be considered?”
