Plainview WD & Hicksville WD Commissioners Among Commissioners to Award Former NYS Senator Martins for NSWCA Support
Plainview WD's Bader & Hicksville WD's Schuckmann were among water commissioners to honor former NYS Senator Jack Martins for NSWCA support.
June 13, 2017; Melville, NY USA - At a recent meeting held by Nassau Suffolk Water Commissioners’ Association (NSWCA), of which Plainview Water District Commissioner Andrew N. Bader is President and Hicksville Water District Commissioner William Schuckmann is Secretary, former New York State Senator Jack M. Martins was honored and awarded by NSWCA water commissioners for his contributions to NSWCA. The meeting was hosted by Massapequa Water District Commissioners Thomas P. Hand, Joseph J. Tricarico and Raymond J. Averna in Williston Park, New York.
Commissioner Bader presented Mr. Martins with a special plaque in appreciation of his support of NSWCA during his tenure as 7th District New York State Senator from 2010 through 2016. Commissioners from the 21 water districts that comprise the NSWCA were in attendance during Mr. Martins' prestigious honor.
“We are pleased to recognize Jack Martins for his steadfast support of our organization and our programs through the years with this well-deserved award,” Commissioner Bader said. “Jack Martins has championed many of our goals and has supported our mission of sustainability and providing the highest quality drinking water to the residents we serve. He also shares our vision and concerns for the single source aquifer that supplies Long Island with water. It is with grateful recognition and appreciation that we present him with this token of our esteem.”

“I thank the Nassau Suffolk Water Commissioners’ Association for its recognition of the work I have done to protect one of the most important resources we have – our drinking water,” Mr. Martins said. “As stewards of our drinking water, the NSWCA has championed reforms that have kept our families and communities safe. It’s a pleasure to work with such a dedicated organization as we work to protect our sole source aquifer and ensure that our water will remain the best hidden resource we have.”

Organized and chartered in 1981, Nassau Suffolk Water Commissioners’ Association (NSWCA) is comprised of water commissioners from 21 Nassau and Suffolk County water districts. The NSWCA is dedicated to promoting environmental excellence and best practices as well as maintaining the highest standards of water quality and supply. NSWCA sponsors regular educational meetings on topics that include the environment, security, economics, rules and regulations, among other related issues.
