POB Appoints Dr. James E. Bolen as New Assistant Superintendent

Plainview, N.Y. - The Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District is proud to announce the appointment of James Bolen, Ed.D. as the District's new Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, effective July 1, 2021. Dr. Bolen, who served as an Assistant Principal in the Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District from 2012-2015, will be succeeding Mrs. Joanne Mannion, who retired from the District last month.

“We are excited to welcome Dr. Bolen back to our District as the new Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction,” said Dr. Mary O’Meara, Superintendent of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District. “He will lead a team of exceptional, instructional leaders, and ensure our students experience meaningful and rich programs delivered by dedicated teachers.”

"I am thrilled to be coming back to serve the Plainview-Old Bethpage community,” said Dr. Bolen. “Rarely does one have the opportunity to ‘come home’ for a position such as this. I am eager to get started working for our children with a stellar team of teachers, students, parents and administrators.”

Dr. Bolen brings with him almost two decades of educational leadership experience, working with students, parents, and educators throughout Long Island. He began his career teaching social studies in the Herricks School District, before first coming to Plainview-Old Bethpage as an Assistant Principal. Prior to his return to POB, Dr. Bolen was a 7-12 building Principal in the Valley Stream North and Cold Spring Harbor School Districts.

Dr. Bolen received his Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Instructional Leadership from St. John’s University. He holds a Professional Certification in Administrative Supervision from Stony Brook University, a Master’s in Education from Fordham University and a Bachelor of Arts in both political science and communications from Boston College.
