POB Science Teacher Recognized as QuarkNet Fellow
POBJFKHS Science Teacher Susan Wetzler Named 2021 QuarkNet Fellow

Plainview, N.Y. - The Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District is proud to congratulate Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School (POBJFKHS) science teacher Susan Wetzler who was recently named a 2021 QuarkNet Fellow for her overwhelming commitment to giving her students the best education possible.
“We are so fortunate to have Ms. Wetzler guiding our students with her physics expertise,” said Joyce Barry, Chair of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District Science Department. “Her dedication to her students is a testament to the commitment our educators have to our students.”
Ms. Wetzler has been a member of QuarkNet for the past nine years. During her time in QuarkNet, she has attended numerous training workshops and seminars organized by the nonprofit collaboration, a partnership between Fermilab and the University of Notre Dame.

QuarkNet is an organization dedicated to providing students with the most authentic and meaningful opportunities to engage in impactful research by providing science teachers the means to develop their skills and bring real research experience into the high school science classroom. This is completed through the partnering of science teachers with researchers engaged in real-time physics investigations.
“I am looking forward to learning more and helping other teachers within the District become more involved in this program,” said Ms. Wetzler. “This fellowship enables me to support others as an educational leader and an expert to better aid the experience provided to our students.”
