POB Students Get Heads Shaven by Hair Stylist for Children Cancer

Leading L.I. hair stylist Anthony DeFranco with new Plainview salon helps Plainview-Old Bethpage students raise money for St. Baldrick's.

Plainview, NY; April 2, 2019 – Anthony DeFranco, the renowned name in the Long Island beauty and hairstyling scene, helped students in the Plainview-Old Bethpage School District to raise awareness and funds in the fight against childhood cancer by participating in the annual St. Baldrick’s Fundraiser at the Howard B. Mattlin Middle School.

DeFranco helped to shave a total of 50 students’ heads, helping to raise a total of $7,000 that day, with a total of $40,000 raised by the school being donated to The St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a non-profit cancer-research organization that raises funds to find cures for childhood cancer. Volunteers raise money to have their heads shaved in solidarity with children who typically lose their hair due to the rigorous treatments for cancer that they undergo. More than 50,000 people step up as shavees each year. Worldwide, a child is diagnosed with cancer every two minutes.
