PLAINVIEW, NY — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we're working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.

Relationship to nominee: Friend

Reason for recognition: Lori has taken it as her responsibility to protect and take care of our shelter dogs in the Town of Oyster Bay. She has fought for the rights, rallied up supporters and has saved many dogs from being euthanized through her relentless efforts.

One thing to know: She has a heart of gold and has spent endless amount of hours saving these dogs and other animals in our community. Including stray cats and injured squirrels.
