Your New Favorite Place to Shop - The Country Pointe Project

Here's everything you need to know about the Country Point Project and what it means to you.

If you’ve driven by the intersection of Old Country Road and Round Swamp Road anytime in the past year you’ve definitely seen the new hub of Plainview-Old Bethpage begin to bloom. Country Pointe Plainview is a new luxury community taking the area by storm. Some key things to know: it’s a huge property being split into 750 homes, a clubhouse, a public rec space, and a retail area. The property is primarily for 55+ active adults, and will connect to the state park walking trail. For locals the real excitement is the 118,450-square-foot retail plaza. This is not only going to become an economic engine for the community, but also your new favorite place to run errands.

Beginning with the move of the popular supermarket, Shoprite - from Morton Village Plaza to Country Pointe, things have being to take a turn for the once desolate street. If you’ve been to the new Shoprite you know how great this is for the community. Some quick pros: the staff has doubled (good for the local economy), the food selection has gone from the run-of-the-mill standard items to a treasure trove of fresh and frozen options complementing all dietary needs (including a much larger kosher section), and they’ve added a pharmacy (bringing competition to the CVS on Broadway).

Once Shoprite made the move it was no surprise when the town renowned Trio Hardware followed. Shoprite and Trio have been two pillars in the community for the past 55 years and will continue to keep their places in our hearts. If you’ve been to the old Trio vs. the new one, you know how much the Carlow family must be pleased with their legacy. They recently handed off the store to Todd and Ritsa Kirschner, who have pushed Trio to bigger and better things.

What else is coming to Country Pointe? So far a Starbucks, Chase Bank, an unaimed “top” pizzeria and some other unnamed smaller tenants have been confirmed. The Starbucks of course is getting a lot of excitement because the closest one is five miles away on Woodbury Road, this will definitely be filling a need in the area. Keep an eye out for what else is to come, and keep your fingers crossed for a good chinese place!
