Frank Lloyd Wright Masterpiece In Historic Usonia
WOW House: An architectural gem in a gem of a neighborhood, this house showcases the master's talent for beautiful family living.
PLEASANTVILLE, NY — Here's your chance to own a piece of history as well as a piece of art. This architectural masterpiece is nestled perfectly in its woodland setting, with curves and overlapping masonry to fit in with its environment. It was a joint vision of Frank Lloyd Wright and the client, and its history is a unique part of Pleasantville's past.
Starting in the 193os, a group of people and the famous architect shared a vision of community for a 100-acre tract in Pleasantville, according to Town & Country magazine. Wright designed a development of 47 houses on 100 acres called Usonia. He even designed three of the homes himself. They were designed to be middle-income properties.
The neighborhood is on the United States Registry of Historic Places. Architecture + Design magazine called it the best-designed small town in the country.
