2 Killed In Crown Heights Motorcycle Crash: Cops

CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — A Brooklyn couple were killed Friday in a motorcycle crash on Rogers Avenue, according to police and reports.

Jose Garcia-Cruz, 36, was riding his motorcycle with girlfriend Kristina Walker, 25, around 10 a.m. when the two were thrown from the bike after trying to pass a Mack truck, police said.

The two were then hit by the truck, police said.

Walker was pronounced dead at the scene and Garcia-Cruz died a short time later at Interfaith Medical Center, according to police.

Family told the Daily News that Garcia-Cruz had been taking Walker to work at the time of the crash. The two, who both worked in the food industry, had been together for two years and recently moved in together on Rogers Avenue, according to the outlet.

“It’s very tragic that they went together,” Garcia-Cruz’s brother, Gabriel Dume, told the Daily News. “He was always talking about her. They were just happy together.”

The 58-year-old Mack truck driver stayed at the scene of the crash and there were no arrests as of Monday morning, according to police. The crash is under investigation by the NYPD's Highway Collision Investigation Unit.
