Brooklyn Half-Marathon Comes to Prospect Heights Saturday

Race's new route starts at Brooklyn Museum, circles Grand Army Plaza.

It's too late to sign up, but you can still cheer on the runners in this year's Brooklyn Half-Marathon.

Instead of doing two loops in Prospect Park, the organizers, New York Road Runners, will be inaugurating , which includes Prospect Heights. 

The race will begin near the and loop around Grand Army Plaza before heading down Flatbush Avenue, across Parkside Avenue and into Prospect Park.

The reason for the change is to accommodate the large number of entrants, as well as to prevent faster runners from lapping slower ones.

Officials say the best place for spectators is the finish line in Coney Island on 10th or 12th streets or Stillwell Avenue.
