BROOKLYN, NY — Police are investigating the death of a construction worker who fell from the roof of the former Flatbush Savings Bank on Thursday, the NYPD said.

The circa-1927 building was slated earlier this year to be demolished and replaced with a nine-story building, according to reports. Advocates had tried to prevent the demolition by appealing to the city's Landmarks Preservation Commission.

Police said Thursday afternoon that they are investigating the death. The man's name has not yet been released.
