Crown Heights 'Affordable' Apartments Require $60K Salary
The St. Johns Place building has four apartments on the affordable housing lottery.

CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — Four apartments in Crown Heights have hit the affordable housing lottery, but only for those making at least $59,795 per year, records show.
The studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom spots are found in a new building at 495 St. Johns Place near Classon Avenue.
It includes a gym, a shared laundry room, a recreation room, a rooftop terrace, bike storage lockers and a virtual doorman, according to the listing on the city's Department of Housing Preservation and Development site.

The available spots will go to those making 130 percent of the area median income, or at least $59,795 for the studio apartment, $66,858 for the one-bedrooms spot and $84,000 for the two-bedroom units.
The studio costs $1,744 per month, the one-bedroom $1,950 and the two-bedroom $2,450, the listing shows.

Applications are open until May 16 at the building.
It joins several others on the affordable housing lottery in Brooklyn.
Among them are an Ebenezer Plaza building in Brownsville, the Debevoise Senior Housing development, the Harry T. Nance Apartments on Eastern Parkway and The Garnet, which has nearly 100 spots open on Fulton Street.
The Astra, also in Bed-Stuy, has 89 apartments up for grabs.
