Crown Heights Block Is Brooklyn's Greenest, BBG Says
A Lincoln Place block won the Brooklyn Botanic Garden's Greenest Block award, officials announced.

CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLN — A Crown Heights block won the Brooklyn Botanic Garden's prestigious annual award for the greenest block.
Residents of Lincoln Place between Nostrand and New York avenues snagged first prize in the 2019 Greenest Block In Brooklyn competition, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden announced Tuesday.

Winning means the local block association — Preserving Lincoln's Abundant Natural Treasures, or PLANT — will receive a $300 and the prestige that comes with being green.

This is the 25th year of the competition and more than 160 blocks from about 30 neighborhoods vied for the title in 2019.

East 25th Street between Clarendon Road and Avenue D in Flatbush claimed second place and Stuyvesant Avenue between Bainbridge and Chauncey streets, the block that claimed the title in 2017, took third, officials said.
