Crown Heights' Brower Park Plans Day Of Music, Art Exhibits

CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — A day of music, art and other family fun is headed to Crown Heights' Brower Park this month, according to organizers.

Friends of Brower Park have announced a slew of activities and exhibits planned for the park on Saturday, June 19, according to a post from the Crown Heights North Association.

The day will include a full line-up of visual artists, spoken word performances, musical performances, health and fitness activities, food and more both inside and outside the park grounds, according to the post.

Brower Park is a 7.5-acre space found on St. Mark's Avenue and Park Place between Brooklyn and Kingston avenues.

The day of activities is set to run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Here's the line-up:

  • Inside the Park
    • Visual artists: Larry Brown, Jessica Dixon, and Ronald Taylor;
    • Spoken word: Donauta Starcevic and Kids, Vernon Place Block Association performing "Know thy Neighbor, Know thy story"
    • Musical performance: Noel Pointer Foundation, the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music (through the Brooklyn Children's Museum); Akwesi Asante's African Safari (courtesy of the Brooklyn Public Library)
    • Health and Fitness: Yoga with Jyll; fitness challenges (jump rope and pull-up) with Vita Fitness; and health screenings with Brooklyn Community Board 8.
  • Park Exterior:
    • Brooklyn Public Library Book Mobile (Brooklyn Avenue between Prospect and Park Place)
