BROOKLYN, NY — Straphangers won't be able to take a D train between Manhattan and Brooklyn during two weekends in April, the MTA has announced.

The transit officials will shut down the tracks for B and D trains between the two boroughs the third and fourth weekends of the month so that the New York State Department of Transportation can perform inspections on the Manhattan Bridge, according to the announcement. The shutdown will also let the MTA make repairs and perform its own inspections on the subway lines.

The shutdowns will begin 11:30 p.m. on each Friday and last until 2 a.m. on Monday.

During those times — April 16 through 19 and April 23 through 26 — D trains will only run between Coney Island/Stillwell Avenue and Atlantic Avenue/Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

The closures will also impact D service in Manhattan and the Bronx, where C trains will replace D trains during the weekends between 205th Street and 59th Street/Columbus Circle. Late evenings and early mornings when the C doesn't operate, there will be D shuttle trains between 205th Street and 145th Street, officials said.

Shuttles will also make stops between West Fourth Street and Grand Street in Manhattan.

  • For stations along 6 Av, riders can take the C train to/from nearby stations along 8 Av
