CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — A new mass vaccination site planned for Medgar Evers College will officially open next Wednesday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced.

The governor revealed details Friday about how eligible New Yorkers can sign up for coronavirus vaccines at two vaccine distribution facilities that are set to open in Queens and Brooklyn next week, which will become the largest sites in the state.

Scheduling for both sites — which are set to open Wednesday, Feb. 24 — will be available starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Cuomo said.

The sites will first be available to those who live within surrounding ZIP codes, and open up to the entire borough after a week. They are part of a state-federal collaboration to target areas that were hardest hit by the coronavirus pandemic.

"For one week, we're targeting certain communities with low vaccination rates and high positivity rates," Cuomo said.

The Brooklyn site is set to open at Medgar Evers College, whose campus is found on Bedford Avenue near Prospect Park. The Queens site will be at York College in Jamaica.

Each facility will give out 3,000 vaccines per day given a special allocation of doses from President Joe Biden's coronavirus task force.

The state-federal partnership also will open four sites in Buffalo, Rochester, Albany and Yonkers.
