Housing Lottery Opens For Bedford Union Armory Apartments
The first phase of the affordable housing lottery for the new development launched Thursday.

CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — The affordable housing lottery has launched for the first round of apartments at the Bedford Union Armory development, which has been in the works several years.
The first phase includes 55 studio, one and two bedroom spots for those making as little as $14,778 per year, records show. Half of the apartments are set aside for Community Board 9 residents and 5 percent are set aside for New York City employees.
“We are excited to launch Phase 1 of the affordable housing lottery in Building 2 of the Bedford Union Armory," said Joseph Ferrara of BFC Partners, the developers behind the Armory. “...BFC Partners is proud to provide such a resource for the Crown Heights community — this is just the beginning."

The development includes in-unit washers and dishwashers, energy efficient appliances, a multipurpose room, and bike storage lockers.
The city-owned Bedford Union Armory — whose redevelopment has been hotly debated for years — is slated to eventually bring 415 homes, 250 of which will be set aside as affordable. The residential components of the Armory project is set to open in 2022 and 2023.
The community center at the Armory is scheduled to open later this year.
