Man Dies After Pole Hit By MTA Bus Falls On Him In Brooklyn: Cops
The bus hit a pole on the sidewalk while trying to get around a "disabled vehicle" on Eastern Parkway, police said.

CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — A man hit by a falling pole on the sidewalk in Brooklyn last week has died, according to police.
Lance Margolin, 59, was walking down Eastern Parkway near Utica Avenue last Thursday when the pole, hit by an MTA bus, came crashing down, police said.
The bus had hit the pole while trying to drive around a disabled vehicle in the road, according to police.

Margolin was taken to Kings County Hospital with head and body trauma. He died in the hospital on Saturday, police said.
Police said the bus driver stayed on the scene and that nobody else was injured.

The Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the incident.
Margolin is one of several pedestrians who have died in Brooklyn in recent weeks.
Also on Saturday, Angel Aguilar-Duran, a sanitation worker, was killed in a hit-and-run while working in Williamsburg.
Last week, a homeless man who had been in the hospital after being hit crossing Atlantic Avenue died from his injuries. Cops are also searching for the car that hit and killed an MTA bus driver on Shepard Avenue in March.
Another fatal crash in Red Hook recently prompted renewed calls for safety improvements to the street. Also in late February, 6-year-old Shimon Fried was hit and killed just outside his home in South Williamsburg by a school bus.
