Man Killed In Hit-And-Run In Brooklyn: Cops

Oscar Holford, who was from Manhattan, was crossing the street on Shepard Avenue when he was hit, police said.

BROOKLYN, NY — A 38-year-old man who was hit crossing the street in Brooklyn last week has died, police said.

Oscar Holford, who lived in Manhattan, was crossing Shepard Avenue near Pitkin Avenue around 10:15 p.m. Friday when he was hit by a white vehicle, according to police. The unknown vehicle, which had been driving down Pitkin Avenue, did not stop.

Holford was rushed to Brookdale Hospital, where he died on Monday.

The NYPD's Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the crash, police said.

The crash is at least the third fatal hit-and-run in Brooklyn in the last few weeks.

Another fatal crash in Red Hook recently prompted renewed calls for safety improvements to the street. Also in late February, 6-year-old Shimon Fried was hit and killed just outside his home in South Williamsburg by a school bus.
