CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — Appointments at Medgar Evers College's massive new COVID-19 vaccination site are now open to all eligible Brooklyn residents, rather than just those in select ZIP codes.

Anyone living in Brooklyn who meets the current eligibility criteria — thanks to their age, occupation or underlying health conditions — can now make an appointment for a coronavirus vaccine at the site, after the state expanded eligibility Saturday.

The Medgar Evers vaccination site, which opened last week, has the capacity to inoculate 3,000 people a day, according to the governor's office.

At first, vaccines were only available to eligible Brooklyn residents living in certain communities with high rates of positive COVID-19 tests and low vaccination rates — an effort to promote equity after data showed that white New Yorkers have received a disproportionate number of the vaccines so far administered.

Eligible New Yorkers can schedule appointments through New York's 'Am I Eligible' website or by calling the state's COVID-19 Vaccination Hotline at 1-833-NYS-4-VAX (1-833-697-4829).
Appointments can also be made in-person at York College.
