More Than 100 Affordable Apartments Up For Grabs In Brooklyn

The apartments are available to those making as little as $15,000 a year, records show.

BROOKLYN, NY — A new batch of apartments in Central Brooklyn have hit the city's affordable housing lottery, this time for as little as $362 per month.

Ebenezer Plaza Phase 1 North, one of four towers planned for New Lots Avenue in Brownsville, was added to the affordable housing listings over the weekend.

There are 106 studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom spots up for grabs in the new complex, which includes a rooftop terrace, a community lounge and on-site laundry.

The units are split between several income levels, ranging from 30 to 80 percent of the area median income.

At the 30-percent level, applicants should make at least $14,915 for a studio, $18,789 for a one-bedroom, $23,246 for a two-bedroom and $26,949 for a three-bedroom spot. At the higher end of the spectrum, applicants looking for the 80-percent income level apartments should make at least $42,378 for a studio, $53,075 for a one-bedroom, $64,423 for a two-bedroom or $74,503 for a three-bedroom.

The New Lots Avenue complex is among several other Brooklyn buildings on the affordable housing lottery.

Among them are the Debevoise Senior Housing development, the Harry T. Nance Apartments on Eastern Parkway and The Garnet, which has nearly 100 spots open on Fulton Street.

The Astra, also in Bed-Stuy, has 89 apartments up for grabs. Those units are available to New Yorkers at four different income brackets, including those who make 40 percent of the area median income, or as little as $20,160 per year for the studio.
