Morgan's Barbecue Team Opens New Prospect Heights Mexican Eatery
Tiny's Cantina opened on Flatbush Avenue on Friday.

PROSPECT HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — A new Mexican restaurant has opened in Prospect Heights just in time for Cinco de Mayo.
Tiny's Cantina, led by the team behind Morgan's Brooklyn Barbecue, officially opened its doors on Friday just a few blocks from its sister restaurant.
The Central Mexican eatery was first developed in the early days of the pandemic to be a takeout-friendly option for the neighborhood. It includes seating for 40 and a vintage ceramic-tiled bar.

The new restaurant will be led by Executive Chef Cenobio Canalizo, who has focused on embracing flavors from his native Puebla, Mexico.
"One of the house specialties is a traditional Oaxacan Tlayuda, which will feature a rotating assortment of regional Poblano toppings including a bright chorizo version — a handmade corn tortilla covered in chorizo, frijoles negros con hoja de aguacate (avocado leaves), radishes, pickled onions, crema, and quesillo," according to a release.

The drink menu will include 75 bottles of craft mezcal and tequila, wine, Mexican beer and octli, a Central Mexican drink made with the fermented sap of the maguey plant.

The eatery is one of two Latin restaurants coming to the neighborhood.
Owners of King David Tacos also announced this week that they will open a brick-and-mortar spot in Prospect Heights in May. The taco brand is known for its food carts at Grand Army Plaza and in Manhattan.
