New Café Stocked With Prepared Options

The new Vanderbilt Ave. eatery seeks to make prepared food healthy and affordable.

Prospect Heights residents and chefs Joanna Knollmueller and Matt Fulton have officially opened Stocked, a café focused on nutritious and homemade prepared food.

Located at 635 Vanderbilt Ave., Stocked serves scones, empanadas and muffins for breakfast, six different gourmet sandwiches, three kinds of salads and 10 prepared food options, including salmon burgers and cous cous salad – among a variety of other choices.

The café also has a designed children’s play area and kid food options such as grilled cheese sandwiches and hummus, avocado and lettuce sandwiches.

“So far, people are really happy,” Knollmueller said. “It’s really kid-friendly, which is really nice for the neighborhood.”

Knollmueller said she and Fulton wanted to open Stocked because they saw a need for good prepared food in the neighborhood.

“There’s been nothing like this,” she said.

Stocked is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday though Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
