Organic Market Plans First Brooklyn Outpost Near Barclays Center

Downtown Organic Market, a high-end grocer, will be coming to the 6,000-square-foot space at a condo development on Pacific Street.

BROOKLYN, NY — A high-end market will open its first Brooklyn location near the Barclays Center next year, developers announced.

Downtown Organic Market has signed a lease for the 6,000-square-foot retail space at 561 Pacific, a luxury condo development that opened this year on Pacific Street and Fourth Avenue.

“We couldn’t dream of a better location or a better neighborhood for our Brooklyn debut," owner Jalal Ahmed said in a release. “561 Pacific is in the heart of Boerum Hill and very accessible to those in search of a new organic market. We pride ourselves in delivering a five-star shopping experience, from our diverse array of options to our friendly and helpful staff, and we are confident that this new location will quickly become a staple for locals in the community.”

The new market — which will include a juice bar, salad bar and prepared meals — is slated to open in May of next year, real estate developer Adam America said in a release.

It will span nearly 6,150 square feet along the Fourth Avenue side of the building and give free meals and drinks to the condo development's residents.

Downtown Organic Market offers a curated selection of organic foods, with a particular focus on locally sourced produce, meats, cheeses and breads from small, family-owned businesses like Wholesome Gourmet Market and Wholesome Farms Market, according to the release.

561 Pacific, designed by ODA New York, includes 62 luxury residences and was built in the last few years.

"We are excited to welcome Downtown Organic Market into the community,” said Omri Sachs, the co-founder of Adam America Real Estate. “It’s always our goal to improve the quality of life for all residents in the neighborhoods we enter, so it’s rewarding to bring in a retailer that will fill a real need and deliver top-of-the-line organic foods.”
