Pedestrian, Cyclist Killed Hours Apart In Brooklyn Crashes: Cops
The 77-year-old pedestrian and cyclist were hit less than a mile away from one another in Flatbush on Saturday, according to police.

BROOKLYN, NY — Two fatal crashes unfolded just hours apart in Flatbush on Saturday, killing a cyclist and a 77-year-old pedestrian, according to police.
In the first crash, around 3:43 a.m., an e-bike cyclist was hit at the intersection of Rogers Avenue and Clarendon Road by a 21-year-old driving a Nissan Sentra, according to police. Emergency responders found the cyclist lying in the road with head trauma and took him to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Investigators determined that the cyclist had been heading down Clarendon Road when he rode into the intersection despite a traffic signal, according to police. The driver, who had been heading north on Rogers Avenue, stayed at the scene after the crash, they said.

The second crash happened later that night near Nostrand Avenue and Campus Road, police said.
A 77-year-old woman was walking on Nostrand Avenue around 8:17 p.m. when she tried to cross to Campus Road and was hit by a white BMW that was making a right turn onto the street, police said. Emergency responders took her to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the BMW fled the scene after the crash, police said.
The Flatbush crashes are at least the seventh and eighth in Brooklyn the past few months.
Most recently, a woman was hit and killed by a car pulling out of a Bay Ridge car dealership.
