Lego Hacking Workshops, It Takes a Village Open House and Celebrate Brooklyn!

Plus improv, trivia, a puppet sing-along and other happenings this week in Prospect Heights.

Good morning Prospect Heights! It's a cool, sunny day with a high predicted of 78 degrees.

Alternate side parking rules are in effect Monday, Tuesday and Friday but are suspended Wednesday and Thursday for Eid al-Fitr. The Muslim festival ends the monthlong sunrise-to-sunset fast of Ramadan.

Here's what's happening this week:

Monday

- Today is the beginning of the two-week The NYC Makery Pop-up Makerspace at Brooklyn Brainery, a "portable digital playground, a place where communities can gather to play with the creative power of digital design and fabrication, physical computing, and computer programming," organizers say. There are workshops on everything from "lego hacking" to arduino programming. On a personal note, if anyone should run into my husband, please don't mention this event or I won't see him again until the events are over.

- It's also Trivia night at Atlantic Co.

Tuesday

- Today are the annual National Night Out bashes put on by NYPD precincts to help cops and community members become friends. from May sound a bit corny, but with events ranging from a rock climbing wall to a double dutch demonstration, it's an event not to be missed. For us lucky Prospect Heighters, there are two events to choose so see out National Night Out Smackdown to make the right decision.

- Have a child under the age of 4? Looking to join a community of others in the same predicament?  On Tuesday night head to the It Takes A Village Meet & Greet, where you can learn about the "second living room" where, for a (pretty darn low) monthly membership fee you hang out at the toy-filled play space for impromptu playdates and a chance to join a community of young parents.

- Or, engage in some friendly competition at Trivia Tuesdays at The Saint Catherine.

Wednesday

- Start (or end) your day at the brand new Barclays Green Market taking place Wednesdays at the corner of Atlantic and Flatbush Avenues from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

- Tonight you can get a laugh at the Best Friend's Thread - Improv Comedy Showcase at LaunchPad;

- Or hear author Paul Yoon, a North Korean war refugee, read from his book, "Snow Hunters" at Greenlight Bookstore.

Thursday

- Every Thursday in August from 12-2pm, bring your lunch to "LunchPad" for a mini social for the work at home (or near home) crowd.

- Sing, dance and shake your sillies out at the Yellow Sneaker Puppet Sing-Along at It Takes a Village. You can even high-five the puppets after the show.

-Learn to make beer at Brewshop 101: Homebrewing Essentials at Bitter and Esters.

- See a Live Score to Beasts of the Southern Wild tonight at Celebrate Brooklyn!
Dan Romer, Benh Zeitlin and The Wordless Orchestra will recreate the original score to the film.

Friday

- Tonight at Celebrate Brooklyn, Shaggy and TK Wonder perform.
