'The Largest Menorah' Will Light Up Grand Army Plaza This Hanukkah
The 33-foot-tall menorah will be lit nightly by a rabbi in a Con-Ed cherry picker.
GRAND ARMY PLAZA, BROOKLYN — Sure, Grand Army Plaza's 25-foot Christmas tree might sound impressive, but how about a 33-foot-tall menorah? Not that the holidays are a competition — but still!
On Dec. 24, The Largest Menorah, a celebration of the season put together by Chabad of Park Slope, will come alive at the Plaza's parkside entrance.
The lighting of the menorah, in which a rabbi will be lifted 33 feet into the air by a Con Edison cherry-picker lift, will take place at 7 p.m.

The lighting will be followed by a free concert from Jewish folk rockers Moshav. Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams will be in attendance as well. The event is open to all.
There will also be a candle lighting ceremony at the menorah during each of the next seven days of Chanukah. Music will be played at each gathering, gifts will be given out to the children in attendance, and there will be hot latkes for everyone to enjoy, according to Chabad organizer Moshe Hecht.
