NEW YORK, NY — The state's largest coronavirus vaccination sites have officially opened their doors in Queens and Brooklyn.

The mass vaccination facilities— set up at York College in Jamaica and Medgar Evers College in Crown Heights — opened their doors at 8 a.m. Wednesday with a full schedule of appointments for residents of the surrounding ZIP codes and a celebratory press conference from Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Both facilities are set to give out 3,000 vaccinations per day through a state-federal partnership to target areas that were hardest hit by the pandemic.

"This is the first in the state that says we're going to bring the vaccine to the community that needs it most, and we're going to give that community priority to get the vaccine," Cuomo said from York College on Wednesday morning. "Call, make your appointment. Get a vaccine...It's safe, it's right, it saves lives."

Scheduling for the Queens and Brooklyn facilities have been open for a list of priority ZIP codes surrounding each sites since Saturday. Appointments will be reserved for those ZIP codes until 8 a.m. this Saturday, when they will open to the rest of the respective boroughs.
