Tell The City How To Expand Its Bike Network To East Flatbush
The Department of Transportation is holding a workshop on expanding its bike network to East Flatbush and other parts of Central Brooklyn.

BROOKLYN, NY — The city's transportation officials are looking to expand Brooklyn's bike network into East Flatbush.
The Department of Transportation and Community Board 17 have set up a public workshop in February to discuss expanding the cycling network into East Flatbush, Northeast East Flatbush, Rugby, Farragut/Hyde Park, Remsen Village, Ditmas Village and Erasmus, according to a notice from DOT.
The workshop will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 9. and can be accessed here.

It will focus on possibilities for expansion into the neighborhoods, ways to improve cyclist safety and bike infrastructure, according to a flyer.

The city's network of bike lanes is relatively limited in the East Flatbush area, compared to other sections of the borough.

Bike lanes exist on major thoroughfares such as Clarendon Road and Bedford Avenue, but are far and few between when compared to bike networks in North Brooklyn or nearby neighborhoods like Crown Heights and Park Slope, according to DOT's bike map.
The department's most recent expansion of the bike network near East Flatbush was the completion of the Flatbush Avenue bike lane late last year.
