Watch a 25-Foot Christmas Tree Come Alive in Grand Army Plaza

The tree will be lit by the Diocese of Brooklyn, which will also bless the Plaza's nativity scene.

PROSPECT HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — The Diocese of Brooklyn will host an interfaith tree lighting ceremony Tuesday at Grand Army Plaza, along with the blessing of a life-sized nativity scene. The event will start at 5:20 p.m. on Dec. 20.

The crèche will be blessed by the Most Reverend Nicholas DiMarzio, the Bishop of Brooklyn, while Monsignor Joseph Grimaldi, the Territorial Vicar for Brooklyn, will give his blessing to the Christmas tree.

According to the Diocese, the event will also feature music by singer Charlie Poveromo, as well as two choirs and a marching band.

According to the Church, the Diocese of Brooklyn, which includes communities in Brooklyn and Queens, is the eight largest diocese in the U.S., as well as the only diocese completely located within an urban area.
