A pack of Brooklyn kindergartners on a Wednesday morning outing were wholly unimpressed by an exclusive sidewalk performance from Coheed and Cambria frontman Claudio Sanchez.
In a video of the awkward encounter uploaded to the band’s YouTube channel, a local kindergarten teacher holds Sanchez’ Starbucks cup and tries unsuccessfully to rally her students while Sanchez performs the chorus of a yet-to-be-released Coheed track.
“Listen!” she tells them, as a teacher’s aide plays overenthusiastic hypeman in the background.
But a child’s face rarely tells a lie, and these children do not appear to be huge fans of this yet-to-be-released Coheed track.
We’re not sure which kindergarten these scary-cool schoolchildren come from, but the video was shot on Vanderbilt Avenue near Park Place in Prospect Heights, which places the scene awfully close to the International School of Brooklyn. We’ve reached out to the school for confirmation or denial.
In the meantime: Thank you, anonymous Brooklyn kindergartners, for your unrelenting realness in the face of one adult-dictated MTV Unplugged surprise attack. You continue to do you.
