West Nile Mosquitos Spreading Quickly in Brooklyn
Infected mosquitos found in 7 zip codes.

West Nile Virus has spread pervasively among mosquitos over the last month in parts of Brooklyn and Queens, though so far there are still no human cases in either borough.
In the latest release from the Department of Health, 7 Brooklyn zip codes, including Flatbush, were found to be populated with West Nile mosquitos. Check out the map above to see where infected mosquitos were found.Â
The city detected the first cases of West Nile Virus in July this year, on Staten Island and in Queens. The first cases in Brooklyn were discovered earlier this month.Â
So far, just two people, both in Staten Island, have shown symptoms of West Nile Neuroinvasive Disease, and none have exhibited symptoms of West Nile Fever.Â
In 2012, there were 26 total cases of West Nile Neuroinvasive Disease, and 15 cases of West Nile Fever.Â
